Andrew T. Kessler, 36, of Queens, New York was charged with using false government documents, impersonating a public servant and possessing prohibited weapons and devices, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

At about 6:40 p.m. last night, Port Authority police on duty at the Holland Tunnel toll plaza in Jersey City saw the suspect driving a black 2014 Volkswagon, officials said.

An officer noticed the driver was using a cell phone, prompting them to pull him over. While interviewing Kessler, the officer asked for his driver’s license and vehicle registration, police said.

In return, he handed the officer a Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons ID card along with a shield. However, the officer inspected the credentials and determined them to be fraudulent, authorities said.

It was determined the suspect was an Uber driver and he was placed under arrest without incident. Additionally, a set of handcuffs was recovered from inside the vehicle, officials said.

  1. Looks like time’s are tough for Governor Paterson! He made fun of us on SNL and now he gets what he’s got coming. “Officer I couldn’t see what ID I was giving you — that was my ‘halloween costume’!” Sure it was, governor squints! Hope the slammer treats you well.
