Police: Two Jersey City men arrested for using cocaine inside PATH bathroom

Two Jersey City men were arrested for allegedly sniffing cocaine off of a garbage can inside the men’s bathroom at 1 PATH Plaza in Journal Square, police said.

James McLaurin, 64, and Lawrence Blackwell, 49, both of Jersey City, were charged with use of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine), according to Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

Additionally, Blackwell was charged with possession of CDS (crack pipe) and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes (knife), authorities said.

Inside 1 Path Plaza in Jersey City at about 9:30 pm on Tuesday, Port Authority police saw the suspects sniffing a white powder from the top of a garbage can inside the PATH station men’s room, officials said.

As a result, the suspects were placed under arrest. Furthermore, Blackwell had an open warrant out of Hudson County and McLaurin had two outstanding arrest warrants out of Jersey City, police said.
