Shamara Upshaw, 20, of Pittsburgh, C.A., and Katherine LaFlower, 20, of Orlando, F.L., were both charged with engaging in prostitution and promoting prostitution on Friday, according to Police Det. Sgt. Michael Torres.

Upshaw was arrested at approximately 8:04 p.m. after allegedly offering to perform a sexual act with an undercover police officer in exchange for money, while LaFlower was accused of doing the same with a separate undercover officer at a separate location at 9:34 p.m., police said.

Additionally, LaFlower has two failure to appear warrants, one out of Georgia on prostitution charges, officials said.

Torres previously told Hudson County View that the department would not be releasing the names of the hotels/motels involved in the operation for the sake of future stings, also citing the concern of officer safety.

Shutting down prostitution operations is an ongoing quality of life effort for Police Chief Kevin Flaherty, the department previously said in a news release.
