James Borders, 49, of Jersey City, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

Borders was arrested around 4:28 p.m. outside The Family Dollar, located at 577 Broadway, Sunday after trying to steal undisclosed items valued at $42.56, slashing at employees with a blue folding knife and even biting one when they tried to stop him from leaving the store, authorities said.

He was remanded to the Hudson County jail and the employee who was bit by Borders was treated at the Bayonne Medical Center, officials said.
