Ezequiel Mora, 18, of Bayonne, was charged with robbery, criminal restraint, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of a weapon for a December 4 burglary, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

Additionally, Mora was charged with burglary and possession of burglar tools as he was caught trying to pry a rear door open on December 28th, the date he was arrested, officials said.

At about noon on December 4th, a robbery was reported at the Bayonne Family Grocery, located at 269 Ave. B, where the robber sprayed a 57-year-old store employee with pepper spray and assaulted him with a broomstick he found inside the store, authorities said.

Furthermore, the victim was treated for facial injuries at the CarePoint Health Bayonne Medical Center.

Mora was arrested at about 4:53 p.m. near the intersection of 15th Street and Avenue E after a resident on East 15th Street identified Mora as the individual who tired to pry open the home’s rear door moments earlier, police said.

At the time of his arrest, Mora was found to be in possession of a large metal pry bar, hence the possession of burglar tools charge, officials said.
