Police: Bayonne man punched in the face, wallet stolen on New Year’s Day

A Bayonne man was punched in the face and robbed of his wallet while walking down Broadway on New Year’s Day, police said.

Carlos O. Rodriguez, 55, of Bayonne, was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, fraudulent use of credit cards and theft of credit cards, according to Police Lt. Eric Amato.

A 59-year-old man told authorities that while walking on Broadway with a man he just met, later identified as Rodriguez, he was punched in the face and had his wallet stolen.

Rodriguez fled the scene, but was arrested on January 4th and remanded to the Hudson County jail in Kearny, officials said.
