Jamie Colon, 39, of Bayonne, was charged with driving while intoxicated after the crash, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

Around 5:31 p.m., Colon was arrested in the area of 27th Street and Park Road after striking a parked vehicle on West 26th Street, followed by a tree near the intersection of 26th Street and Park Road, officials said.

The driver initially fled the scene after the crash, but returned while officers were still investigating the accident, where police determined he was under the influence. He was treated at the Bayonne Medical Center for minor injuries, authorities said.
