Ramon Morales, 44, of Bayonne, was charged with driving while intoxicated within 1,000 feet of a school, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and failure to wear a seat belt, according to Police Capt. Janine Foy.

On Sunday April 26th, at approximately 9:59 p.m., police arrested Morales for alleged drunk driving after his Ford Edge was traveling southbound on Avenue A when his car struck a Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound, officials said.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 38-year-old North Bergen man, was not injured while Morales, who tried to leave the scene of the accident, was taken to the Bayonne Medical Center due to his level of intoxication, authorities said.
