Official: Two arrested in connection to fatal West New York hit-and-run

The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office has announced that two people have been arrested in connection to yesterday’s fatal hit-and-run in West New York that took the life of 7-year-old Sheyla Pichardo.

Full details of the arrests will be revealed at a press conference at West New York Town Hall’s Municipal Court Chambers at noon, explained Hudson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Juan P. Escobar.

Pichardo was killed after she and her mother, Yeime Vital, 32 were hit by a black Chevy Tahoe on their way to School No. 1 yesterday morning. Pichardo succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the Palisades Medical Center.

The West New York Police Department and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office called on the public to aide them in finding the driver.
