“This incredibly strong show of support sends a clear message that the people of Jersey City are ready for leaders who will deliver results for every neighborhood, who are independent of the political machine, and who are ready on day one,” O’Dea said in a statement.

“Our petitions were collected at the doors by hardworking, dedicated volunteers who did it because they believe in our vision for Jersey City, not by a political machine or a big money paid campaign operation. That’s the kind of grassroots campaign we’re building, and I’m so thankful to our entire team and especially to the thousands of residents who entrusted us with their support.”

O’Dea and his council candidates met on the steps of City Hall today to file their petitions, along with Campaign Co-Chairs Hudson County Clerk E. Junior Maldonado and County Register Jeff Dublin, as well as volunteers from each campaign.

With the petitioning phase now complete, Team O’Dea is charging ahead into the next phase of the campaign, focused on their core message: making Jersey City more affordable, safer, and fairer for everyone.

O’Dea’s slate consists of Councilman Danny Rivera, Kristen Zadroga-Hart and Sandra Robinson Green at-large, Pam Johnson in Ward A, Tom Zuppa in Ward C, Elvin Dominici-Encarnacion in Ward D, Dan Israel in Ward E, and Keith Howell in Ward F.

Additionally, Joel Brooks, a Ward B council candidate, and O’Dea traded endorsements rather than having a traditional running mate on the west side of the city, the veteran commissioner’s home turf.

The filing deadline for the non-partisan Jersey City municipal elections is August 21st at 4 p.m.
