Man arrested for attempted murder for shooting at moving car in Jersey City

A man is facing attempted murder and weapons charges for firing three shots at a moving car outside the White Star Bar on Thursday, May 7th, authorities said.

The Jersey City Police Department arrested Jamien Sojos, 21, of Bayonne, in connection with the aforementioned shooting incident on Pavonia Avenue, according to public safety spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione.

Sojos was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, May 13th following investigative work tied to the incident and no injuries were reported.

He was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 21, and bail jumping.

The incident came to light last week after a city resident posted Ring camera footage of the incident on Reddit, as HCV first reported.

“Our officers … work reflects the level of persistence required to advance violent crime investigations and help bring justice to victims and their families,” concluded Police Chief Robert Kearns.

The Jersey City Police Department continues to encourage residents to report suspicious activity.
