Dear editor,

The Republican Party is a big tent coalition of ideas with a diversity of backgrounds and policy proposals across the spectrum of issues facing our state.

Unlike other political parties, wedded till death to their orthodoxy, the GOP encourages thoughtful dissent and creative variety.

Juxtaposed with the other major party, the GOP doesn’t proscribe a one-size-fits-all government solution to every challenge.

I am a common-sense conservative, grass roots activist, essayist, and smaller government advocate dedicated to building a GOP that expands the Republican base by engaging in outreach and spending political capital before, during, and after election season in order to turn blue districts purple and purple district red.

After decades of repeating the same tax and spend progressive program, even with Republicans in the governor’s mansion, NJ’s citizens deserve real options and a course of action that strengthens our local economy instead of draining it, that allows people and businesses to create instead of chasing away jobs, and that makes life in the Garden State more affordable – not less achievable.

To do so, we need a state party willing to step up to the plate and direct resources towards the vast majority of liberals-by-birth who hate our high taxes but have had little to no interaction with smaller government ideas.

We must engage the unengaged, not only in election years or by registering those registered independent who are already de-facto Republicans, but by developing relationships and investing in outreach in urban areas, with immigrant American communities, that speaks to millennials, and in legislative districts with strong Republican cores that are dominated by the slightly larger Democratic numbers.

If you want a strong Republican State Committee, the party organ that sets priorities and the agenda for the New Jersey Republican Party, then join me by donating to our campaign for State Committee at https://www.gofundme.com/gop-state-committee so that we can have a voice for an activist and engaged NJ GOP.

Joshua Sotomayor-Einstein

Hoboken resident
