Marenco replaces Commissioner of Public Safety Theresa Ferraro, who will retire after her term expires in May.

Sacco, who was joined by Commissioners Alan Pascual, Hugo Cabrera and Frank Gargiulo – as well as District 8 Freeholder Anthony Vainieri – began by explaining his satisfaction with Theresa Ferraro’s service both on the board and in the community.

Speaking with Hudson County View, Sacco explained why he thought Marenco was a solid commissioner candidate.

During the press conference, Marenco expressed his gratitude to be given the opportunity.

Afterwards, he confirmed with Hudson County View that he was being considered for the ticket back in late October or early November, adding that he feels he’d be a good fit to be the commissioner of the Department of Public Safety.

Marenco added that regardless who the opposition ticket or tickets are, he’d like to see some tactics utilized other than mudslinging.

Sgt. Henry Marrero, an anti-administration candidate, has pulled his petitions and local activist Larry Wainstein is expected to head a ticket against Sacco’s team.
