“I am honored and grateful to have the endorsement of these union leaders who collectively represent thousands of working men and women in Hoboken, in Hudson County and beyond,” said DeFusco said in a statement.

“I believe in bringing new energy and new ideas to Hoboken, like updating our outdated zoning laws to allow innovative economic development. This would provide more union construction jobs, but it would also make our city more vibrant and create a space for innovative new businesses like urban wineries, coffee roasters and tech co-working spaces to thrive, diversifying the tax base and reducing the burden on residential taxpayers.”

The endorsement comes from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 164, UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 696, UA Pipefitters Local 274, UA PLUMBERS Local 24, Bricklayers Local 4 and Painters, Tapers and Glazers Local 711.

For those following the Hoboken mayoral contest closely, the endorsement doesn’t come as much of a surprise, given that labor unions were generous contributors to DeFusco’s campaign based on the second quarter filings with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission.

Union leaders present at the endorsement included Hudson County Building Trades President and Plumbers Local 24 Business Agent Patrick Kelleher, IBEW Local 164 Business Manager/Financial Secretary Dan Gumble, Sprinkler Fitters Local 696 Business Manager Kevin Bellew, among several others, according to the DeFusco campaign.

The Hudson County Building Trades had 13 labor unions endorse Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop for re-election this morning, also throwing their support behind his council slate.

  1. Say what you will but when you get into bed with Hudson County Boss, Senator, North Bergen mayor Nicholas Sacco he takes care of his boy. Unfortunately the Construction Unions want to build massive buildings (NJT- North West) in Hoboken. Fortunately for Hoboken while the can send cash and election day workers the really don’t make up much of voting base in the city. Will Senator Union City Mayor Stack stand for this incursion on his turf ?

  3. Nancy Pincus aka Grafix Avenger
The most despised human in Hoboken lies
    Zimmer received this same honor
Now she’s lying saying Defusco cut deals

    Up that policy Pincus
Your doorbell will be ringing again soon
Mason will look like a party in comparison

    You’re done

  4. So when Dawn Zimmer got the very same endorsement 4 years ago after they met with her and Stan in a Jersey City Bar, Zimmer bloggers want to erase that fact.
Wonder if Carmelo made that introduction.

They were friends back then, just ask Frank Raia, Carmelo Garcia , Hector Claveria and Andrew Amato…
Dawn and Stan Grossbard’s original GOTV team

  5. It’s only logical. DeFusco is promising big projects for those Union guys if he gets elected. He will make Zimmers high density deals look like bungalows. We need to stop this guy before he walls us in with HUGE developments. Follow the money and you can follow his promises!

  6. Creepy times are back in Hoboken with Nancy trying to take a photo of one of the candidates on a Sunday when they were in their car driving by with a family member, Nancy stopped her bike to try to snap a photo of a private family car trip…

Will the Sleaze Alliance of Bhalla -GA have no limits?

GA has morphed into the reform version of 411

  7. GA, you keep using the word Reform. After 8 years in control of City Hall, control of the HHA, control of the Zoning and Planning Boards, control over development and just about every other city agency, you can no longer call any of Zimmers people Reformers. They have all sold out the town to favored developers, gave jobs to their friends, let the city deteriorate. Seems to me that the ex-reformers have done enough damage.
