Hudson County Chamber of Commerce to host Sherrill right after Labor Day

The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce will host U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11), the Democratic nominee for governor, at a breakfast right after Labor Day.

The event will take place at the Hudson County Community College Culinary Conference Center, located at 161 Newkirk St. in Jersey City, on Tuesday, September 2nd from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

She is slated to will discuss priorities for economic growth and take questions from the business community, the chamber of commerce said. Anyone interested in registering can do so here or call 201-386-0699.

The Hudson County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event as part of their “Meet the Candidates Series,” organized by their Employer Legislative Committee (ELC).

At each Hudson County ELC meeting, legislators, cabinet members, or local officials discuss important issues pertinent to business. They hosted each Democratic candidate for governor, including Sherrill, as well as one Republicans, prior to the June 10th primary.

Sherrill is facing off against former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli in the November 4th general election, which recent polls have determined to be a single-digit race where the congresswoman is favored.

  2. I am getting the sense she is unwilling to debate her opponent in a large public forum. We talk about how the American public is so uninformed, as part to explain how Trump got elected — twice. On the other hand, the Dems curate their candidates in a back room and basically tell us, this is who you are getting — and the candidate really doesn’t have to explain why. Sherrill may be more qualified and deserving of the job — but I expect to hear her explain why that is the case. No debate, no vote.
