On Friday at approximately 10:40 p.m., Hoboken 1st Ward Councilman Mike DeFusco, a mayoral candidate, contacted police about an unknown individual disseminating altered DeFusco campaign literature, according to Police Lt. Brian Brereton.

The campaign literature now had an added portion that read “Don’t let TERRORISM take over our Town” over a picture of Councilman-at-Large Ravi Bhalla, another mayoral candidate.

The department also provided a side-by-side comparison of how the flyer had been altered:

When DeFusco campaign members realized the change to their official campaign literature, they immediately called police and began to gather up the fliers from the vehicles
they were placed on, authorities said.

Hoboken police checked the area for the individuals in question but were met
with negative results.

Due to the bias nature of the literature, the Hoboken Police Department is investigating this act as a Bias Incident, officials said. Notifications were made to the county and state.

At this time, Hoboken Police Detectives are looking for two persons of interest. If anyone has information please contact the Hoboken Police Department at 201-420- 2131 or 201-420-2106 and ask to speak with detective.

The flyer shook the political world on Saturday, making headlines across the nation. The four major mayoral candidates all spoke out against the flyer and no one took responsibility for it

      • Roman Brice, you are completely full of crap. I am not wasting my time posting invitations to Hoboken Proud events, including tonight, and communications. And who the hell are YOU to call them my “former friends”? Like you ever did ANYTHING for the Hoboken District Schools. You never lifted a finger over the years, while I spent countless hours on stories revealing the OG pilfering from Hoboken education funds, and debunking Petrosino’s disinformation campaign against the schools. Roman Brice, you have done NOTHING to help the Hoboken district. You did NOT support the BoE’s HoLa lawsuit- I did. Why don’t you climb back under your rock and disappear? BTW, you are not very popular with that crowd. You never supported them. So go piss off, Roman Brice.
