Today, the work began at 8 a.m. and will continue through 6 a.m. Monday morning, according to a construction schedule released by the county last week.

While construction will span from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday, commuters will catch a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, as roadwork will halt from 6 a.m. Wednesday until Friday at 10 a.m.

Throughout the weekend, the bridge will remain closed in both directions from 10 a.m. through 6 a.m. on Monday, November 27th.

Traffic will be detoured through the Willow Avenue Bridge in both directions and local police and Hudson County sheriff’s officers will direct traffic. Additionally, all jackhammering ends at midnight.

The road work project was one of 21 Hudson County projects stopped by Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) freeze of all construction paid for by the Transportation Trust Fund.

Earlier this year, the county was awarded $1,062,067 for the concrete deck rehabilitation of the Park Avenue bridge.
