“An amazing Team Giattino campaign milestone reached was today!,” Giattino began in an email.

“A total of 1,759 nominating petitions have been filed for Team Giattino for Hoboken. Enough to secure positions on the upcoming ballot for the entire team!”

2nd Ward Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, a supporter and operative for Giattino’s campaign, added that the slate only submitted petitions that were confirmed to be on the voter list provided by Hudson County.

“There were an additional approximate 100 petitions that were received by the campaign, but were not submitted, from people who were not listed as registered voters with the county,” Fisher said in a text message.

“The Giattino campaign feels confident that all petitions submitted, if counted, would be considered valid.”

At the end of last month, Giattino submitted 360 petitions for nomination for her mayoral run, one day before announcing her running mates: Sal Starace, Jason Ellis and Jim Aibel.

Earlier Wednesday, 1st Ward Councilman Mike DeFusco’s council team filed 1,584 petitions for nomination.

The Hoboken municipal elections are on November 7th.
