Hosting the event to celebrate one year as a Hudson County freeholder, Vainieri’s packed party at the swanky Waterside Restaurant (the same location where he was sworn in last year) brought about 300 politicos together for a night out before Water Storm Jonas ruined the weekend.

U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-8), Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-32), state Senator (D-32)/ North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco and the recently rarely seen outside of Union City state Senator (D-33)/Mayor Brian Stack all made it a point to show up at the Friday night extravaganza.

Vainieri, the new vice chair of the freeholder board, appeared to be in a jovial mood throughout the evening and why wouldn’t he be given the great turnout at the event and just unveiling the new, $6.1 million James J. Braddock Park Veterans Memorial one day prior.

While there was no formal program or speakers for the event, Vainieri grabbed the microphone for around 20 seconds at 6:45 p.m. to thank everyone for coming out to show their support.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, everybody here, it’s been one year [since] running for freeholder and I plan on being here for a little while. I want to help you anyway I can, I have done nothing yet,” he joked, before encouraging his guests to get back to schmoozing.

Others in attendance included Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez (D-32), Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari, Hoboken Freeholder Anthony Romano (D-5), Guttenberg Councilman Wayne Zitt, West New York Freeholder Caridad Rodriguez (D-7), West New York Commissioner Sue Colacurcio, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, North Bergen Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Alan Pascual, Julio Marenco and Frank Gargiulo, Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, Bayonne Freeholder Kenny Kopacz (D-1), North Hudson Community Action Corporation President Joan Quigley, former West New York Mayor Sal Vega, ex-West New York Police Director Al Bringa, ex-North Bergen Police Chief Billy Galvin, former North Bergen Township Attorney Herb Klitzner and NHCAC Board Chair Joey Muniz.
