A 16-inch water main break in Hoboken flooded the roadways along 14th Street between Willow Avenue and Bloomfield Street last night, with United Water needing almost a full 12 hours to remedy to situation.Â

The break occurred on 14th Street between Bloomfield and Garden Streets around 6 p.m. last night, with United Water arriving on the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m., according to a release from United Water.
After several hours of work, the company announced at 11:15 p.m. that the “water main break has been exposed through excavation and isolated to a select area.”
Approximately 300 families were without clean water as a result of the break, with the Hoboken Office of Emergency Management stationing their water truck at the Hoboken University Medical Center for any United Water customers who wanted to fill clean water containers.
The break was fully repaired by 6:45 a.m. this morning, with United Water expressing their appreciation for “the patience of our customers.”
