Jersey City Police Officer Christina Freeman, who came in sixth place in last week’s mayoral race, is endorsing Ward E Councilman James Solomon to succeed Mayor Steven Fulop in the December 2nd runoff.

“James Solomon has shown true dedication to our city and its residents. His vision for a more inclusive, innovative, and accountable Jersey City aligns with the values I ran on,” she said in a statement.
“We need housing that working-class residents can afford, and James can make it happen. I am proud to endorse him in the runoff.”
Freeman is the fifth person to back Solomon since Saturday, following U.S. Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ), Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, as well as Hudson County Commissioners Bill O’Dea (D-2) and Yraida Aponte-Lipski (D-4).
She is also the second recent opponent to formally do so along with O’Dea, though Mussab Ali attended and spoke at Solomon’s runoff campaign kickoff on Saturday.
“I am honored to have earned Christina Freeman’s support. Her commitment to our community is inspiring, and I look forward to working together to build a brighter future for Jersey City,” the downtown councilman added.
“The contrast in this race could not be clearer: while I am running to lower rents for working families, Jim McGreevey is going to raise them.”
Another recent mayoral candidate, Council President Joyce Watterman, backed McGreevey yesterday.
