As K-9 units for the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling the park, they came across the overturned vehicle on Riverview Drive in North Bergen, which was heading north towards John F. Kennedy Boulevard East, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mike Makarski confirmed with Hudson County View.

Makarski added the exact time of the incident was not immediately available and added that police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area.

An eyewitness initially stated the crash occurred between 9 p.m and 9:30 p.m., as well as that the driver fled on foot before authorities arrived on the scene.

The North Bergen and Guttenberg Police Departments, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, North Bergen EMS and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue all responded to the incident, which occurred less than a block away from where “Back to the Future” was being shown as the finale of the “Movies in the Park” series.
