The Jersey City Police Department hosted a community meeting at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church to discuss public safety.

West District Captain Michael Kelly talked about the realities he was facing, including the training status of his rookie cops, and the overall morale of all his officers in the wake of Melvin Santiago’s death.

Kelly also took questions from the crowd, including one about stop and frisk, and at the end answered questions surrounding the shooting death of Lavon King by a Jersey City police officer.
