Bayonne teen charged with attempted murder for shooting someone at house party

A Bayonne teenager was charged with attempted murder for shooting someone at a house party last night, according to Police Det. Sgt. William Dundas.

The juvenile, of Bayonne, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a handgun, Dundas said in a statement.

The teenager was taken into custody by Bayonne Police detectives on yesterday at approximately 9:11 p.m. in the area of East 18th St for the above listed charges.

Investigation into the incident revealed that the suspect and the victim were involved in a brief verbal disagreement in the area of West 9th Street where they were at the same house party.

The disagreement culminated in the arrestee shooting the victim one time in the hip at approximately 1958 hours.The juvenile fled the area on a bicycle and was apprehended just over one hour later by Detectives.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. Furthermore, the investigation revealed that this was a targeted incident as the victim was known to the actor, police said.
