“Throughout his tenure, Chief Geisler has led our department with strength, compassion, and vision. He guided us through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the safety of both our officers and our community while continuing to uphold the highest standards of service,” the Bayonne Police Department wrote on Facebook.
“Chief Geisler has consistently supported the men and women of this department, advocating for the resources we need to do our jobs effectively and safely. Under his leadership, we have remained equipped with the latest vehicles, technology, and tools necessary to meet the demands of modern policing. We are grateful for his unwavering commitment to both the department and the community he served over the past 30 years. We wish him health, happiness, and fulfillment in his well-earned retirement.”
Geisler was Bayonne’s highest paid employee, earning $333,884 last year, according to public records provided by Gov Salaries.
Multiple Hudson County sources, who spoke under the condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to speak on the matter, said Geisler’s law enforcement career is likely not over, expected to be named a county undersheriff next year.
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, a retired police captain, is the Democratic nominee for sheriff and is expected to win easily on November 4th, given that the county hasn’t elected a Republican sheriff in 121 years.
The Hudson County sheriff has the ability the name three undersheriffs that serve throughout their tenure.
The New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits did not return an email inquiring about Geisler’s retirement benefits, while city spokesman Joe Ryan said the city would be releasing additional information about his retirement next week.

At last, the Sheriff’s Office will have a qualified Sheriff and Undersheriff in place. Now if only Andrew could recognize that his presence simply is not wanted and his time is limited.
