The church, located at 41-45 West 20th Street in Bayonne, had a couple dozen parishioners come out to pray and pay their respects for the nine shooting victims, gunned down the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church by 21-year-old Dylann Roof (h/t NBC News), last week.

Yesterday, the Emanuel AME Church held a Bible study in the same room where Roof opened fire after sitting in on a Bible study group for about an hour just one week prior, per CNN.

U.S. Reps. Albio Sires (D-10) and Donald Payne, Jr. (D-8) previously expressed their sympathies over the tragic killings.

  1. Republicans hoisted on their own petard. The South from before the turn of the 20th century was solid Democrat. Unfortunately the majority of those Southern Democrats were intolerant Dixiecrats. During the 1960’s the Civil Rights Acts passed vehemently opposed by the Dixiecrats. Richard Nixon devised a plan to take the solid South away from the Democrat’s with his “Southern Strategy”.The Republican “Southern Strategy was to appeal to these Dixiecrats, now disaffected and disfranchised from the Democrat Party. The Republicans have pursued their “Southern Strategy” for 5 decades, and it has worked, by the ‘70’s the South Old Confederacy was solid Republican. But as they are learning and desperately trying to run away from, there is an ugly down side becoming the refuge of the Southern bigots and Northern intolerant’s.Good luck my Republican friends, you’ll need it, the nation is changing.
