The New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office was seen loading the dead body into an SUV, which was parked near Fulton Court on Harbor Place, around 8:15 p.m. this evening.

North Hudson Regional Fire & Rescue, the Hudson Count Prosecutor’s Office and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene, all declining comment.

Waterfront residents, who asked not to be identified, said they believed the deceased man committed suicide via a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A law enforcement source, who spoke under the condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to speak on the matter, also said that the matter appeared to be a suicide, but the medical examiner has still not made an official determination as of late this evening.

A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office could not be reached this evening.
