Police and fire engines responded to the blaze, which started at the rear of building near the storage area at 8:20 a.m. The cause is still under investigation, according to Secaucus Police Detective Michael Torres.

Although no one was hurt, medical services did treat an employee on the premises for what seemed to be smoke inhalation.

Walmart management asked employees huddled in front of the building to take an early lunch before returning with their name tags and blue shirts to help with the clean-up.

One customer said she and other cars were turned away from entering the building. They were told the Walmart will not reopen for several hours.
